In this Christmas season of gift giving, I’ve been adamant that I would keep my eyes on giving rather than receiving.

One of the ways I trrryyyyyy to give is through this online space called “Smore Stories”. My heart has always been to utilize the unique platform God has blessed me with, but as all bloggers/writers will most likely agree, we have our waves of doubts as to the impact we are having or if we actually have any following.{For you who are mine, I’m most grateful and love each of you!}

To my surprise this morning as I opened my Inbox, I read an email that came as a blessing in a very unexpected package…

A “Blog of the Year 2012” nomination from Don’t We Look Alike.

God has been nudging me, okay kicking me off my chair, these past months as to actually accepting the road that he is asking me to travel in partnership with Him. I’ve dug my fingertips into the chair trying to convince Him{ok, me} that He is dead wrong on this one{how dare I, right? he is God after all}. But here with all of you dear, sweet readers, I am confessing my disobedience and announcing that I am off my chair and ready to accept the challenge that God has given me.

The challenge you ask?

It’s to stop doubting Him and His desire for me to speak loud and clear without reservation or fear online, in person, in print, one on one or to large groups on this messy, beautiful, faith-filled journey of all things adoption and orphan advocation. My dearest friends have been helping God push me along and I have resisted. Do you know how many amazing, talented blogs and speakers there are in this area of adoption and orphan advocation?

But, I am stepping out in faith ready to accept this challenge. Even if I fall flat on my face, which honestly can’t get any flatter as an asian, at least I was obedient to what God was asking of me and I tried failing.

So, without further adieu, here is where I now get to GIVE as a result of receiving, by paying it forward and nominating my favorite blogs for the “Blog of the Year 2012″. They all happen to be tied to adoption and I count it a privilege to lock cyber arms with them in speaking on behalf of the fatherless.

Don’t We Look Alike: A multiple mother-daughter blog sharing stories through their adoptive relationship richly sharing life from both sides of the adoption equation.

One Thankful Mom: Lisa is a mom of 12 and transparently, lovingly and graciously shares her experiences in daily life through homeschooling, adoption, and large family life.

My Crazy Adoption: Kari is an adoptive mom and orphan advocate extraordinaire sharing the crazy journey God has her and her family on through caring for orphans. They love big as a family and tangibly walk out their calling.

Afrik AdvantageRobyn is an adoptee who’s unique voice speaks to international adoption, identity, & reconciliation/diversity while serving as a bridge for social change.

The International Mom: Judy supports, encourages, educates and equips her readers as adoptive parents.

The Stitch That Makes The Sweater Perfect: Carolyn tells it as is and doesn’t mince words. She has a huge heart and speaks volumes around adoption and children with HIV/AIDS.

Carissa Woodyk: A wife, mom, counselor and adopted person who has a thought provoking way with words and insight.

We Are Grafted In: A collaborative site that provides a sense of community for adoptive families by equipping and challenging them from a Christian Worldview.

Word From The Wallaces:Lindsy is a foster mom who’s been challenged in their families journey to adopt. She advocates for orphans and is truly inspiring.

    tara…i’m mostly blown away, but also honored and humbled and encouraged and challenged and affirmed. thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for nominating me, one small voice in the sea of voices out there and who most of the time thinks of herself as just another mom in a little town tucked away from all the noise who wears elastic pants most of the day with her hair pulled back and no makeup wondering if her life and voice and presence make any difference in the world at all. it’s something so sweet and gentle like your nomination that brings strength to my soul. utterly grateful.
